Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
